How 2 – Remouladen – have lunch in Vejle (Denmark)

Restaurant Remouladen is Danish when it is best.. they have a very good selection of open sandwiches (smørrebrød) and add to this several good dishes from the classic danish kitchen.
A big fan of open sandwiches and Ida Davidsen, I have wanted to visit Remouladen for some time.

Today I am a little hungover but join my sister and her dearest Thomas for lunch in preparation for the 9hours drive back to Luxembourg.

Restaurant Remouladen has existed since 2011 and it has already enjoyed good recognition in the danish Press. rumored a modern and quality based danish kitchen outside Copenhagen, now came the chance.

Here’s our lunch:

Today’s menu, 2 courses incl. beer 198Dkk or 26€

Christansø heering – onion, capers and yolk – (Yolk choice – True or safe)

Roasted pork rib with red cabbage and pickled cucumber

Sister has a little Kirks herring with potato (menu)

Thomas has the liver paté with bacon, mushroom, beetroots and rye bread

I follow with Fried filet of Plaice with remoulade and a tatar sauce

While sister’s menu is one of my favorites – Paris steak “Pariser bøf

Minced beef on white bread, yolk and plenty fresh horseradish

Hangover tools… would have liked a Vejle beer instead

nice and Peppery meat roll “rullepølse”, with onions, chives and meat jelly “sky”
Matured Cheese with grease, jelly and onions

Sister enjoys some marzipan “kransekage” and coffee
Service was efficient – relaxed, fast and friendly. Food was perfectly prepared… a little simpler than some but very good quality of ingredients, tastes and textures.
Lessons learned
  • Scandinavian food revolution (Quality) has moved outside Copenhagen – this time dressed traditional
  • Restaurant Remouladen delivers an excellent price/quality experience.
  • A must visit when in the area of Vejle where you also find Norsminde Kro
  • Life is Good….
