Always searching for inspiration in the Luxembourg food scene I listen to tips for places to visit. Restaurants with heart and quality . Just 24 years after it’s opening, we pay a visit to La Couronne Royale
The small town, Pétange that together with neighboring Rodange and like the more famous Schengen, sits on three borders – here Luxembourg, France and Belgium.
I’ve heard we should find a Chinese restaurant with a quality kitchen and rare as this is, I am in good spirit and filled with positive thinking.
It’s a sleepy Saturday lunch, 13:00 and we start with glass of nicely chilled rosé:

| I have a mixed starter – Chicken Skewer, Scrimp in garlic, Spring roll and dim sum. |

 |
| We have both chosen the crispy peking duck as main course |
 |
| Cucumber, Spring onions, Pancakes, hoisin sauce and spicy dip |

| Second serving is all the moist but lean duck served fresh vegetables and rice |

This was the best duck I remember and It will not be long before our return to La Couronne Royale.
Specifically I hope to collect a group of friends and do a long Sunday lunch sharing dishes in the best tradition of
Eat Drink Man Woman.
Having heard of the restaurant from
Explorator I wonder what else I am missing in our wonderful Luxembourg – please let me know.
Lessons Learned
- Call and pre order a specialty or whole fresh fish etc.
- There are gem’s hidden everywhere
- Duck can be lean and moist
- Life is good..
