In Luxembourg there are to my knowledge 2 private member clubs. House 17 opened Jan 2014 and is housed in the beautifully renovated 17, rue du Nord.
Inside there are 2 bars, meeting rooms, a game room, cigar lounge, regular events and the House 17 Restaurant which in summer caters for everyone from the terrace and in the winter is reserved for members.

That said, I only write about places that I like and it has taken me a while for House 17 to find its feet when it comes to the service / price / quality that I find recommendable… now it is.
The restaurant is managed by Jan Schneidewind – Who is also running restaurant Windsor in Bertrange Luxembourg.
The menu is a combination of classic brasserie style food and seasonal classics and today it’s a late Saturday lunch and I look forward to some simple comfort food.

A lovely lunch, simple well executed and probably one of the best raw steak tatar around luxembourg.
The 2007 red wine from Chinon was really excellent.
There is still room for improvement in the food taste and texture – but overall we had a lovely lunch at a reasonable price and if you are not a member, come visit the fabulous summer terrace and enjoy a nice crisp Sainte Roseline rosé – this is Luxembourg.
Service was friendly, easygoing and efficient, thank you.
Lessons Learned
- Added to my favorite places to have filet american
- I can keep my cellar-ed 2009 Chinon reds unopened a few years more
- Life is good….
Recommendations for Improvement
- Fries should be crispier
- Skrei was slightly overcooked
- Skip the white gloves

What 2 how 2 
I have been there and I wrote a post about there. I find the atmosphere amazing and the food was outstanding. Service was a bit of a nightmare – for that price honesty I would expect something better.
I really enjoy the general atmosphere there, just not very convinced to renew the membership for the following reasons:
– Lately most of the best events are open to non-members. So why make the effort to ask for membership?
– Events for members are anyway subject to a fee – too expensive for me considering the membership. For example, 150euro for the National Day entrance, no way. I would definitely prefer something like: for booking a table for National day you must ensure a minimum spent of 500Euro. I would pay it better than the entrance fees. But this is a my personal point of view.

Thank you very much for commenting Corie, I hear what you are saying it is a lot of money, I do like however that House 17 has increased the activity level now with more events and special evenings. I also think service has improved lately and look forward to my next visit.
