La Maison TroisGrois has had 3*** Michelin stars since 1968 (45years) and about a week ago it was awarded 2nd best in Europe by OAD (Opionated about Dining). It is situated in Roanne, France, which is 534Km near Luxembourg by road.
Michel Troisgros is third generation running the restaurant carrying his name. His wife Marie Pierre is in charge of the hotel and at least one of the sons are in the kitchen. This is a family business and is based on proper long lasting principles of doing good for your clients.
La Maison TroisGrois is also known for reinvigorating the use of the Sous-vide cooking method in 1974.
I was surprised to see Mr. Troisgros in the garden as I thought he was in New York with M. Batali and
Other famous chefs – nope he was here, no time for relaxation.
Here we are starting with an aperitif in the beautiful garden

& Snacks (Entre vos doigts / Between your fingers) |
All was excellent, some plates fantastic and the drinks very well matched. The kitchen is modern,
using french produce and with Asian touch and a beautiful sense of balance in taste and texture.
We had a package with Dinner including drinks, room and breakfast for 710€ and that is very good value, I hope to revisit not too far from now.
A house where everything is running smooth, a highly recommended experience.
- No shortcuts, Top quality in all elements, food, service, room & breakfast
- France can be modern also outside Paris
- I now understand why La Maison Troisgros is 2nd in Europe
- Life is good…
